NLMK steel output rises 4% to 4.4 mln tns in January–March

MOSCOW, Apr 12 (PRIME) -- The steel output of Russia’s Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) rose by 4% on the year and by 12% on the quarter to 4.365 million tonnes in January–March, the company said in a statement on Monday.

Consolidated sales decreased by 13% on the year and by 7% on the quarter to 3.908 million tonnes in the period due to contraction in the sales of commercial pig iron as one of the company’s blast furnaces is undergoing overhaul maintenance, and a restart of intra-group supplies of slabs to NLMK USA, the company said.

The sales of semi-finished products plummeted by 30% to 1.217 million tonnes, while the sales of ready-made products went down by 2% to 2.69 million tonnes. Domestic sales contracted by 10% to 2.7 million tonnes, and exports fell by 12% to 1.2 million tonnes.
